Lazio are open to the idea of keeping goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha and will talk to him during the pre-season training camp.

As reported by Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the 26-year-old Albanian shot stopper’s departure from the Roman club seemed to be a foregone conclusion, but the arrival of new coach Maurizio Sarri has changed things.

The 62-year-old Italian coach has not yet decided which goalkeeper will be his number one, even if he does know veteran Pepe Reina from their time together at Napoli.

The Biancocelesti are looking to meet with Strakosha just before or during the pre-season training retreat in Auronzo di Cadore, which is due to start on 11th July. The player currently earns around €1.4 million net per season and would want that increased to at least €2 million in a new deal.

Strakosha would also want guarantees in terms of his playing time. The 26-year-old Albanian suffered this season due to falling down the pecking order in favour of Reina and only made nine Serie A appearances. He wants to play consistently again, so that will be mentioned in the meeting too.
