Lazio & Napoli Reportedly Pondering Lavish Swap Deal

Lazio and Napoli are reportedly entertaining a swap deal that involves Luis Alberto and Giovanni Simeone as both players are looking to leave their respective clubs this summer.

Giovanni Simeone & Luis Alberto’s Situations

The Argentine striker has been starving for playing time since signing for the Partenopei in 2022. He had been serving as an understudy for Victor Osimhen, but the recent signing of Cyril Ngonge and the use of Giacomo Raspadori as a striker has put him down the list in the pecking order.

As for Luis Alberto, his rapport with Lazio has deteriorated over the last few months, and he has already expressed his desire to leave the club publicly. The Biancocelesti are willing to let him leave, but only for an offer they deem satisfying; Lazio President Claudio Lotito has set his price at €15 million.

Swap Deal Between Lazio & Napoli On The Cards?

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via LazioNews24) suggests another solution than straight sales for both players – one that would see Lazio and Napoli trading their wantaway stars. The pink newspaper believes this deal would benefit all parties.

For instance, the Biancocelesti are searching the market for a new striker, and Simeone is an old pupil of Lazio coach Igor Tudor. The Argentine enjoyed his most prolific campaign under the Croatian’s guidance during their time together at Hellas Verona.

On the other hand, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is an admirer of the Spanish playmaker. He could be the ideal profile to replace Piotr Zielinski who will join Inter on a free transfer in the summer.

Nevertheless, exchange deals tend to be complicated operations, so it remains to be seen if anything concrete will emerge on this front in the coming weeks.
