There is bad news for Lazio, as Matias Vecino has been diagnosed with a thigh strain and is expected to be out of action for two to three months.

The midfielder had limped off during the 0-0 Europa League draw with Ludogorets on November 28, but then sustained a more serious injury in training as he worked towards a full recovery.

They released a statement this evening confirming that tests at the Villa Mafalda clinic showed a myo-tendinous lesion to the back of the left thigh.

Sportitalia warn that this type of injury generally requires two to three months on the treatment table, so we probably will not see Vecino playing for Lazio again until February or March.

The 33-year-old Uruguay international has made 15 appearances for Lazio so far this season between Serie A and the Europa League.

He contributed one goal and three assists to the team that is currently top of the Europa League table.
