Lazio were one of many clubs seriously interested in signing Mateus Uribe on a free transfer in the summer but the Colombian has decided to make the jump to Qatar.
The Biancocelesti will be in the midfield market in the upcoming summer transfer window, keen to give Maurizio Sarri more options to work with in the centre of the pitch, especially with the imminent departure of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and uncertain futures of players like Toma Basic and Marcos Antonio.

Lazio have had their eye on Uribe for a little while now and multiple media reports suggested that the 32-year-old was keen on the idea of moving to Rome, but Sarri put a temporary stop to talks in order to determine which midfielders would stay and which would leave in the summer.
As highlighted by Fabrizio Romano, Uribe has completed his medicals and signed a long-term contract with Qatari side Al-Sadd, which he’ll join after his contract expires with Porto at the end of next month.
Al-Sadd is also where former Arsenal and Villarreal fan favourite Santi Cazorla is playing, although his contract expires next month as well.
