Lazio have identified Santos’ Marcos Leonardo as an alternative to Arkadiusz Milik as they search for a new centre forward.

The Biancocelesti clearly need to sign a new striker in the summer transfer window, with Maurizio Sarri unhappy with his lack of options up front. The injuries to Ciro Immobile this season forced him to adapt wingers Pedro and Felipe Anderson to a false nine role, to limited success.

Sarri met with Claudio Lotito earlier this week to plan Lazio’s summer transfer window and Milik was made the priority, but should the Pole not arrive then the club don’t want to be left without options.

As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Lazio believe Santos talent Marcos Leonardo could be a good fit for the squad in the Italian capital.

The 20-year-old Brazilian striker shined at the U-20 World Cup in Argentina, scoring five goals and providing one assist in five games before the team’s elimination in the quarter-finals.

Valued at around €15-20 million, Marcos Leonardo has an €100 million release clause, a fee the Biancocelesti obviously aren’t willing to pay. He is contracted to Santos until June 2026.
