Lazio are still hoping to secure a deal for Michael Folorunsho, but are reportedly keeping tabs on Cesare Casadei as a Plan B.
The Biancocelesti are currently working on signing a new striker in the shape of Boulaye Dia before wrapping up the squad by adding a new midfielder to the fold. According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Lazio would like to bring back Folorunsho to the club, even though they allowed him to leave for free in 2017.
The 26-year-old is now on a collision course with Napoli despite signing a new contract earlier in the summer. The Italian midfielder is all set to leave Antonio Conte’s court and was reportedly close to signing for Atalanta before they were forced to turn their attention towards Mateo Retegui following Gianluca Scamacca’s horrific ACL injury.
At Lazio, Folorunsho would find Marco Baroni for the third time in his career following an experience with Reggina in Serie B and last season’s memorable campaign at Hellas Verona. The Partenopei have reportedly named their price at €15 million.
Moreover, the Roman newspaper claims that Lazio have identified Casadei as an alternative option for Folorunsho. The 21-year-old is an Inter Milan youth product who signed for Chelsea in 2022.
The exciting youngster enjoyed a positive cameo with Leicester City last term, but the Blues decided to recall him mid-season due to an injury crisis. The Italian has been a benchwarmer ever since and is now considered surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge despite his reunion with Enzo Maresca.
Casadei is blessed with a strong physique, but his technical skills allow him to interpret the attacking midfielder role. However, Lazio could face competition from Cagliari and Fiorentina who are also tracking the Ravenna native.
