Lazio snapped a four-game winless streak on Sunday after edging Atalanta 1-0 courtesy of Gustav Isaken’s second-half goal. Next up for Marco Baroni’s side?

A trip to Norway for the First Leg of their UEFA Europa League Quarter-Final vs Bodø/Glimt, followed by the Derby della Capitale against crosstown rivals Roma, followed by the Second Leg at home vs Bodø/Glimt.

It will be, for all intents and purposes, the most important week that Baroni has faced since taking charge of Lazio in the summer, where the stakes are higher than ever.

Lazio Favourites vs Bodø/Glimt?

The Biancocelesti find themselves as the slight favorites due to a number of factors – for one, Serie A is a far more competitive league than the Eliteserien, and Lazio have nevertheless managed to impress in domestic competition and sit sixth in the table, ahead of the likes of Roma, Fiorentina and Milan.

Moreover, they also boast a star-studded squad featuring high-profile veterans like Nuno Tavares, Taty Castellanos, Mattia Zaccagni and Alessio Romagnoli; according to Transfermarkt, the combined market value of Bodø’s squad is €43.15 million, well below Lazio’s (€290.60m). In fact, you could fit the entire population of Bodø into Lazio’s Stadio Olimpico, and still have 19,000 seats left over.

There is also the issue of match fitness – whilst Lazio have already played 18 official matches in 2025, Bodø have only played nine.

Former Milan & Eintracht Frankfurt Attacker Jens Petter Hauge Previews Clash

Despite these mitigating factors, Bodø winger Jens Petter Hauge isn’t lacking in confidence for the upcoming match.

When the referee blows the whistle, everything about the size of the city you’re from doesn’t matter, it’s 11 against 11. It’s going to be a tough match, but the chances are there, and I think Lazio have more fear of losing than we do. They’ve been mocking Roma fans and players for four years ever since they lost 6-1 here, and now they also have the chance to lose to us. We just need to focus on ourselves, forget we’re playing a Europa League Quarter-Final, and do our best. If we believe in ourselves and trust the people around us, anything can happen.

Bodø/Glimt’s Experienced Attacker

Hauge is one of the few Bodø players who has played at the top level, having spent the 2020/21 season with Milan before winning the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2021/22. He then spent a season-long loan spell at Gent before returning to his boyhood club in January 2024, where he has emerged as a vital cog in attack.

Having opened his Europa League campaign with a brace and an assist in a 3-2 win vs. Porto, Hauge leads the team in Expected Assists (2.68) and successful dribbles per 90 (2.5) in the UEFA Europa League, and he also sits third for goal contributions (4) and key passes per 90 (1.4). If Bodø/Glimt are to beat the odds and pull off an unexpected victory against Lazio, the odds are on Hauge having a key role to play.
