Lazio are plotting a summer swoop for Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski, reports Corriere dello Sport.

The Polish midfielder’s current deal expires in 2024, and he has no intention of extending his contract.

The Partenopei are also open to selling him as he is among the highest earners at the club.

Laxio manager Maurizio Sarri has handpicked Zielinksi as an ideal replacement for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who has been linked with an exit and is wanted by several European heavyweights.

Zielinski has been as influential as superstar duo Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for Napoli, racking up seven goals and ten assists in all competitions this season.

Having been with Partenopei since 2016, the 28-year-old has been playing his best football under Luciano Spalletti, evolving into one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe at the moment.

As for Lazio, they can’t think of any better signing than Zielinski, who could seamlessly fill the void of Milinkovic-Savic in the event that the Serbian leaves Stadio Olimpico this summer.

Zielinksi’s stature is likely to soar further, with Napoli on the brink of lifting the Scudetto and one of the favourites for the Champions League title.

Hirving Lozano could also be on his way out, with his contract running out in 2024. Napoli seemingly have no plans to offer him a new deal, and they are ready to cash in on him.

Lazio are close to extending the contracts of three first-team stars – Felipe Anderson, Mattia Zaccagni and Danilo Cataldi.

Sarri’s men emerged victorious in last week’s capital derby, which helped them climb to second in the Serie A rankings.
