Lazio defender Stefan Radu is at risk of requiring an operation to deal with an inguinal hernia, according to a report from Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today.
The report details how the 34-year-old Romanian defender, who is contracted to the Roman club until the end of the season, was forced to pull out of the Biancocelesti’s 3-1 loss to Inter last week just before the match, due to intense pain.
Medical checks carried out later revealed that Radu is suffering with an inguinal hernia, which could require an operation to resolve.
The next few weeks will be key and the 34-year-old Romanian will be monitored daily, but if he doesn’t respond positively then surgery is inevitable.
Coach Simone Inzaghi hopes to have Radu available for next week’s Champions League Round of 16 clash against Bayern Munich, which will take place on the 23rd February in Rome.
