Mattia Zaccagni has shined at Lazio since his arrival from Hellas Verona last summer and president Claudio Lotito is keen to reward him with a new deal.

The 27-year-old Italian winger joined the Biancocelesti on a loan deal with an obligation to buy clause attached last year and his €7.1m fee looks like a bargain in hindsight. Zaccagni has impressed under Maurizio Sarri and quickly become one of the most important players in the squad.

As highlighted by La Lazio Siamo Noi, Zaccagni’s current deal expires in 2025 and Lazio are not in a rush to tie him down to a new contract, but Lotito is used to rewarding players that he believes deserve it and the 27-year-old fits that bill.

Talks will be opened with the winger’s agent in the coming months and the plan is to extend his contract by another year or two and increase his wages from the current €1.8m net per season.

Zaccagni has scored six goals and provided eight assists across his 44 appearances for Lazio. His current contract with the club expires in 2025.
