Lazio have always been at the forefront, particularly with the current presidency, in publicly condemning, preventing and unreservedly repressing any discriminatory, racist or anti-Semitic demonstration or action. The team’s condemnations against actions of this kind, which have nothing to do with healthy supporters as represented by the team, have always been punctual and never generic, supported by specific initiatives aimed at preventing and combating such things. Lazio dissociate themselves from any behaviour of this kind, which is illegal and outdated, being first and foremost an injured party to such behaviour. The ignorance, incivility and superficiality of many have spread in the stadiums of Italy and beyond a dangerous germ, induced by a very few: many replicate behaviour of which they do not even know the meaning and scope. We have often been the first and only ones to intervene, publicly denouncing, asking the police to cooperate in repression and activating educational initiatives. We have tried to prevent, isolate and counter these things. We will continue to do so without hesitation, to defend in Italy and abroad the image of the club, which is also a non-profit organisation and have never had anything to do with these actions. Lazio are inspired by opposite values: inclusiveness, sportsmanship and respect for all. In this case too, we deployed our security organisation, chaired by Prefect Nicolò D’Angelo, former deputy chief of police, before and during last Sunday’s Lazio v Roma match, to strictly enforce the code of ethics, identify those responsible, inhibit their access to the stadium and take legal action for compensation for the damage caused. In the coming hours we will communicate the results, already positive, of our activity, trusting in the active cooperation of the institutions in charge of safeguarding democratic rules.”
