West Brom will be hoping to put last season’s downward turn behind them as they look to succeed in the upcoming 2022/23 Championship campaign.

Steve Bruce walked into a difficult situation when he arrived at the Hawthorns in February, with the experienced boss unable to steer the Baggies to a play-off finish.

Making a strong start to the transfer window with the additions of Jed Wallace and John Swift, Bruce will be eager that the rest of the window follows the high standards he has immediately set.

Here, we take a look at the latest headlines involving the Midlands club…

Tom Lawrence

West Brom are currently leading the race for Derby County’s Tom Lawrenceas per a report from the Daily Mail, with the 28-year-old’s future set to be away from Pride Park.

The exciting midfielder, who has emerged as an integral part of Derby’s squad over the last few years, netting 11 goals in 38 Championship appearances last time out, providing a further five assists.

The Baggies have already welcomed Swift and Wallace to the club, with the pair providing a similar kind of creative service, which makes their continued pursuit rather interesting.

Josh Griffiths

Josh Griffiths is edging closer to securing a loan move to Portsmouth, a report from Hampshire Live has detailed.

The 20-year-old, who appears to be Albion’s current number three, spent the last campaign on loan with Lincoln City, playing an integral role for the Imps before injury struck late on in the campaign.

Pompey are currently looking for a Gavin Bazunu replacement following the young goalkeeper’s departure back to parent club Manchester City before a permanent move to Southampton was sanctioned.

Hamza Choudhury

The Baggies have been reportedly told that they would have to pay 80% of Hamza Choudhury’s wages if the Leicester City man is to arrive at The Hawthorns this summer.

Middlesbrough are also in pursuit of the 24-year-old, as it remains to be seen if either club is able to justify a significant part of the midfielder’s wages.

Choudhury would certainly be an excellent addition at The Hawthorns, given the ability and potential he has shown in glimpses in the higher division.
