Lautaro Martinez will discuss a contract renewal with Inter following the closure of the transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Lautaro is currently under contract with Inter until the end of the 2022/23 season and the report states that his release clause will be removed as part of a new contract.

It is currently impossible for pretty much every club on the planet to trigger big release clauses in player’s contracts but it will not necessarily be like that in the future therefore Inter do not want to take any risks.

Lautaro had been strongly linked with a potential move to Barcelona for a long time but that now seems like a distant memory and his future looks set to be with Inter, who he joined back in 2018 from Racing Club.

In his one appearance this season, the 23-year-old Argentine has scored a single goal.
