While Simone Inzaghi already seemed willing to rest Lautaro Martinez against Verona, he’ll now be forced to do without him completely after the Inter captain left his squad to return to Milan ahead of Saturday’s game.
The Nerazzurri will face the relegation-threatened side at the Stadio Bentegodi on Saturday afternoon in the first Serie A match after the international break, needing to return to winning ways after their draw against Napoli two weeks ago.

It was already suggested that Inzaghi was thinking of surprisingly deploying Joaquin Correa alongside Marcus Thuram up front to give Lautaro a soft return after international duty, but the Argentinean’s exclusion will now be a forced choice.
As reported by calciomercato.com, Lautaro Martinez was already in Verona with his teammates but left the squad to return to Milan on Saturday morning after his condition worsened, as he had symptoms like fever and vomiting.

The Nerazzurri will also be without Hakan Calhanoglu against the Gialloblu, as the Turk midfielder picked up a slight muscular injury during the international break and should be replaced by Krijstian Asllani.
