Lautaro Martinez Has Filled Void At Inter Left By Romelu Lukaku, Italian Media Report

Lautaro Martinez’s three goals from three Serie A matches prove that he is ready to take over from the departed Romelu Lukaku as the main man in Inter’s attack this season, according to Italian media.

This from today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who highlight the hot start to the season for the Argentine and state that he is ready to fill the void left by the Belgian.

Martinez missed the Nerazzurri’s season opener against Genoa through suspension, but since then has started every match, and has only failed to find the back of the net in the Champions League group stage opener against Real Madrid.

The 24-year-old has scored in each of his three Serie A starts so far, showing that he is ready to carry the burden of consistently making the Nerazzurri a goal threat as Lukaku had before his shock sale to Chelsea over the summer.

A contract extension has not been officially agreed, but it is widely expected that Martinez will soon commit his future to Inter, with a new deal set to run until the summer of 2026, and will see him earn a net of €6.2 million per season plus add-ons, reflecting his status as an attacking talisman at the club.
