Inter’s Serie A match against Juventus this evening could come down to a few key individual battles.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who name duels in midfield, attack, and out wide that could be decisive in the Derby d’Italia.

At the heart of midfield, Marcelo Brozovic is expected to start for Inter, and he will vie for control with his Juventus opposite number Adrien Rabiot.

The question of which of the pair is able to look sharper is likely to have a huge impact on whether the Nerazzurri or the Bianconeri are able to impose their preferred tempo of play on proceedings.

Meanwhile, Inter striker Lautaro Martinez will be desperate to get the better of Juventus defender Bremer.

Brazilian international Bremer made the switch to the Bianconeri from Torino in the summer, a move which came after he had been strongly linked with Inter for months.

Things have not quite gone according to plan so far for Bremer in Turin, as the player who had been widely considered to be the outstanding defender in Serie A last season has had a few early wobbles including a woeful match against Napoli’s Victor Osimhen in a 5-1 defeat.

Martinez will be hoping that he can give Bremer a similarly torrid time to the Napoli striker, although he will be well aware that the 26-year-old is still an extremely formidable defender.

Lastly, out wide it is set to be Denzel Dumfries who start on the right for Inter, given that Matteo Darmian is anticipated to start on the right of the back three in the absence of Milan Skriniar.

The Dutchman will have a real test on his hands marking Filip Kostic, given that the Serb has been one of the main creative outlets for the Bianconeri since he arrived from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer.

Particularly given the fact that Angel Di Maria and Federico Chiesa are not likely to start, Kostic will be one of the main sources of creativity for Juventus in this match, and if Dumfries is able to keep him quiet it could be a key factor in Inter’s defensive efforts overall.
