LATEST: West Ham make late loan bid for defender Chelsea would love to move on

There are three players from Chelsea’s original list of 10 they wanted to sell this summer still at the club: Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell and Axel Disasi.

Sterling and Chilwell were always going to end up in this situation, just like last year. They are on too much money to shed easily, and Chelsea want permanent sales not loans. So once again they’re stuck in limbo, with nobody willing to buy them and Chelsea not willing to loan them.

It remains to be seen if the Blues break their resolve like last year and do indeed at least find somewhere to park them for 6 months while their contracts run down.

Disasi struggles for move with just hours left

As for Disasi – we had higher hopes. He had a solid loan at Aston Villa in the second half of last season, and we expected him to have some interest in a permanent move after that.

Various teams have been linked through the course of the summer, but it basically seems like Chelsea have asked for too much money for the Frenchman. Having paid a ridiculously inflated £39m back in 2023 they’ve painted themselves into a corner and don’t want to realise a major loss.

But with just 7 hours left in this window they have no home for him.

We still have hope that could change, however, and Jacob Steinberg has just Tweeted that West Ham are interested in him.

West Ham gear up to try and persuade Chelsea to loan defender

West Ham ask Chelsea about Axel Disasi loan.

At this stage, Chelsea would probably accept a pretty low ball offer. In fact, given there are still a good few years left on Disasi’s contract, they might even accept a loan – although likely only one with an obligation to buy.

We will keep you updated through the rest of the day with more information about this potential move.
