Manchester United have had a few players ruled out of Sunday’s clash against Arsenal through injury, with a few more assessed to be major doubts.

There was bad news for Manchester United on the injury front in Erik ten Hag’s press conference on Friday, with the manager confirming a few absentees.

Ten Hag revealed that Mason Mount has “suffered a new injury” and “won’t be available” to face Arsenal, before adding that Luke Shaw has “also suffered a set-back”.

The manager then admitted that Lisandro Martinez will also miss the match, despite being close to a return.

“Yesterday Licha came to me, and he wanted to play on Sunday against Arsenal, but he is not ready yet,” ten Hag explained. “He needs a little bit more time to go through the process.”

On top of that, Manchester United confirmed earlier this week that Harry Maguire has suffered a muscle injury, and he’ll be out for around three weeks.

There was no update on Willy Kambwala, Victor Lindelof, or Raphael Varane, suggesting all three could still be out of action. But any of the three could make a surprise return, as they haven’t been ruled out either.

Anthony Martial is also unlikely to feature, as he’s only just reintegrating into first-team training, and Tyrell Malacia will certainly be out.

The other three Manchester United injury problems to mention are those of Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay, and Bruno Fernandes.

The news is better there for United fans, with ten Hag giving positive updates on all three.

“[Marcus Rashford] trained this morning as well, and we have to see how he recovered from this,” ten Hag said.

“But I think it looks quite good and I hope he can make the next training [tomorrow] and then see if he is available for Sunday.

“There are players that did train this morning. Bruno [Fernandes] was on the pitch, and Scott McTominay was on the pitch, so there are some players returning.”
