The League One relegation-threatened clubs are starting to mobilise in what is set to be a fascinating battle against the drop this season.

Forest Green Rovers have been busy in the market already this month, bringing in: Ross Doohan, Jamie Robson, Jordan Garrick and Amadou Bakayoko to strengthen their survival bid.

Morecambe’s recent run of form has given the likes of Accrington Stanley, Cambridge United and Cheltenham Town far less security over their position in the division and we could be set for a frantic last couple of weeks of the window.

Here, we have taken a look at the latest third tier transfer news…

Milton Keynes Dons sign Jonathan Leko

Leko arrived late on Friday evening for an undisclosed fee from Birmingham City.

The 23-year-old’s best spells in senior football have probably come in flashes while on loan at Charlton Athletic, having only scored once in 50 games for the Blues.

Leko is capable physically and has great dribbling ability for the level, something that Mark Jackson will be hoping his side can profit from in the coming months.

Craig MacGillivray swaps Charlton Athletic for Burton Albion

Experienced League One goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray has joined Dino Maamria’s relegation-battling Brewers side.

The 30-year-old may have to bide his time to become first choice with Jordan Amissah arriving on loan from Sheffield United this month, but the Scotsman should increase their chances of staying up.

MacGillivray fell out of favour in South London, more due to the club changing their style of play and looking for a glovesman who can help them play out from the back.

That should not be an issue under Maamria.

Peterborough United pick up Nathanael Ogbeta on loan

It has been a frustrating last 12 months or so for Ogbeta, struggling for any real game-time of note after leaving Shrewsbury Town for Swansea City in January of last year.

The attack-minded left sider should give Darren Ferguson a different angle of attack as the Posh look to haul themselves back into a play-off spot.

The 21-year-old has arrived at London Road for the rest of the season, ahead of entering the final year of his contract in South Wales next term.
