The January transfer window is bubbling away nicely this month with some clubs refreshingly getting the bulk of their business done early.

It is unlikely that stops the trolley dash of the final week of the window, but a handful of sides will be chuffed that their pre-planning has paid dividends in the opening fortnight of 2023.

The play-off race is as wide open as ever, and there are a few sides in the bottom half who will fancy their chances of a late bid if they can get on a positive run.

Here, we have taken a look at the latest League One transfer news…

Bristol Rovers eyeing permanent moves

Bobby Thomas, Josh Coburn and Lewis Gibson are all enjoying season-long loan spells with the Gas this season, and Joey Barton has hinted that the club will want to make one of them a permanent addition, in order to create room for further loan additions as the season progresses.

Gibson is the most likely to join on a permanent basis due to the potential fee that would be required to prize him away from Everton, and particularly after the departure of Alfie Kilgour to Mansfield Town, the Gas will be looking for defensive reinforcements.

Burton Albion seeking reunion

The Brewers would like to sign Gassan Ahadme back from Ipswich Town.

The Tractor Boys picked up the physical striker on transfer deadline day in the summer, but he has struggled for opportunities at Portman Road.

Ipswich have continued to stockpile forwards and may regret signing Ahadme in the first place.

Although, financially it is going to be difficult for the Brewers to bring him back to the Pirelli Stadium, as Dino Maamria confirmed to the club’s website.

Lincoln City recall goalkeeper

The Imps have recalled Sam Long from a loan spell in the National League North with Boston United.

The 20-year-old has only made one senior appearance for the Imps, and though he was playing regularly for Boston it is unlikely that is replicated soon at Sincil Bank and another loan move feels like the next step in his development.

Jordan Rushworth, on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion, has been very reliable between the sticks this term and will likely hold down the number one berth for the remainder of the campaign.

Jacob Davenport has left the Imps after his short term deal expired, as per the club’s website.
