League One clubs are jostling for position ahead of what could be a trolley dash in the final few days of the transfer window.

Having said that, some clubs appear to be concluding their business with some time to spare, ensuring they can relax while divisional rivals aim to make up for lost time ahead of next Tuesday’s deadline.

Sheffield Wednesday are the largest club in the league who are yet to act this month, but having been active in the summer and assembled a deep squad capable of managing 46 games with ease, Darren Moore’s men remain in a strong position.

Here, we have taken a look at the latest League One transfer news…

The Green have added the 20-year-old midfielder to the squad on a long term contract, taking McCann from Rangers, as was confirmed this afternoon.

McCann only made one senior league appearance for the Gers this season and he rejected a new contract offer, with the undisclosed fee taking him to Gloucestershire believed to be in the region of £350,000, as per GloucestershireLive.

Rangers have negotiated a sell-on fee as part of the deal and ‘matching rights’ that would allow the Gers to match a future fee that McCann may be sold for, potentially opening up the possibility of a return to Ibrox, according to HeraldScotland.com.

The Green are also set to further bolster their midfield with United’s Charlie Savage on loan, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The 19-year-old, son of Robbie, has a contract at Old Trafford that runs until the summer of 2025 and is expected to have the chance to showcase his skillset in League One over the coming months.

The deal is not complete but appears likely to get over the line before the deadline.

Exeter City bring in Reading man on emergency loan

The Grecians have signed Jokull Andresson on a seven-day loan due to an injury to Jamal Blackman.

Exeter do not have a senior backup option and for that reason chose to re-sign Andresson, who has had a previous brief spell at St James Park.

The 21-year-old will likely start between the sticks when City host Barnsley this evening.

Portsmouth lead the race for Bailey Wright

Wright could become Pompey’s third signing of the window, with the Australian centre back potentially on his way to the South Coast, as per Sunderland Nation.

Sean Raggett and Michael Morrison have struggled at times at the heart of defence in Pompey’s dramatic drop-off this term, and Wright’s leadership and promotion experience would bolster John Mousinho’s rearguard.

Wright has made 14 Championship appearances this season and was crucial in the Black Cats winning promotion via the play-offs last term.
