With the January transfer window fast approaching, clubs from all across League One will be preparing to do business.
Whether they want to strengthen for an automatic promotion challenge, a play-off push or a relegation fight, many clubs will be entering the markets for reinforcements and looking to move players on.
We take a look at some of the latest third tier rumours with just weeks to go until the window opens…
Ipswich Town and Sheffield Wednesday enter Rak-Sakyi race
Ipswich Town and Sheffield Wednesday are both battling it out for automatic promotion, with the second-placed Tractor Boys currently two points clear of the third-placed Owls.
They look set to contest each other for the signature of Crystal Palace forward Jesurun Rak-Sakyi on loan in January, according to a report from journalist Alan Nixon, while they will also face competition from Championship sides Millwall and Hull City.
The 20-year-old is currently on loan in the third tier with Charlton Athletic and has enjoyed a decent spell with the Addicks, scoring five goals and registering two assists in 18 appearances. But it has been a season of struggle at The Valley with the club sitting 18th, hovering just four points outside the relegation zone and without a manager, leaving Palace to potentially consider other options.
Both will be attractive propositions should he be sent elsewhere, but with clubs from the league above also keen, it would be a coup if either can get the deal over the line.
Bolton want Ward reunion
Bolton Wanderers are reportedly interested in re-signing striker Danny Ward from Huddersfield Town.
According to Alan Nixon, the Trotters are keen to bring him back to the club where he started his career and may make an offer next month, with the Terriers considering cashing in on him with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.
It would be a surprise if Town were to let Ward leave given he has featured in every one of their Championship games this campaign. The 32-year-old scored 14 goals on the way to the play-off final last season under Carlos Corberan, but he has found it much tougher this time around with just three goals in a Huddersfield side sitting bottom of the table and who are the lowest scorers in the division.
But if Wanderers can manage to secure the deal and convince Ward to drop down a level, he would be useful asset as they look to continue their promotion push.
Birmingham considering Cosgrove and Bielik swap deal with Derby
Midfielder Krystian Bielik is currently on loan at Championship side Birmingham City from Derby County and the Poland international has impressed at St Andrews, with the Blues keen to sign him on a permanent deal.
But Alan Nixon reports that the Blues may struggle to find the cash, so could offer striker Sam Cosgrove to the Rams as part of the deal.
Cosgrove is currently on loan at Plymouth Argyle and has scored six goals to help the Pilgrims to the top of the table and the Blues are hoping that his form will tempt Paul Warne.
His potential arrival at Pride Park would not only bolster their attacking options, but significantly disadvantage one of their promotion rivals.
