The transfer window slammed shut at 11pm last night in what proved to be a more productive day for some Championship teams than others.

Some clubs were able to strengthen in key areas right up until the deadline, whilst others had to miss out on targets that they had laid down the groundwork for.

Rounding up the big events of yesterday evening, here we take a look at the latest Championship transfer news…

Stoke City complete two late deals

Stoke City completed the loan swoops of Manchester United’s Axel Tuanzebe and AFC Bournemouth’s Ben Pearson late on Deadline Day.

The Potters, who saw Harry Souttar depart the club yesterday night, have replaced the now Leicester City man with the addition of the 25-year-old.

Pearson, who has struggled for consistent game time in the Premier League this season, has thrived at Championship level in the past for the Cherries and with Preston North End.

West Brom seal Leicester City addition

West Brom managed to seal the signing of Leicester City’s Marc Albrighton late on in the day, with the 33-year-old arriving on loan.

Unable to play consistently in the Premier League this season, although a large percentage of this season’s minutes had come in the last three of his games, the Foxes have opted to sanction his loan departure.

A winger who possess bundles of creativity in his intelligent passing and excellent crossing ability, he could prove to be a clever addition.

West Brom pushed to sign Chelsea talent Omari Hutchinson yesterday evening, however, no deal came to frutition.

This meant that the Baggies were reluctant to sanction Karlan Grant’s departure, with Swansea City missing out on a move for the West Brom attacker.

The Swans were also unable to reach an agreement for long-term target Chiedozie Ogbene, in what proved to be a disappointing end to the month of transfer activity.

Bristol City secured the permanent signing of Luton Town forward Harry Cornick late last night, with the 27-year-old penning down a three-and-a-half-year deal at Ashton Gate.

Cornick appeared over 200 times for the Hatters since making his debut in 2017, being a  big part of the club’s rise up the leagues.

In turn, the Hatters moved quickly to get a striking replacement over the line, agreeing a deal for Peterborough United’s Joe Taylor, who arrived for an undisclosed fee.
