Rüdiger spares Real Madrid’s blushes

Scorers: Zubkov 46′; Rüdiger 90+5′.

Antonio Rüdiger scored a last-gasp equaliser to save Real Madrid from a shock defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk.

Igor Jovićević’s men found the winning goal directly from kick-off in the second period, with 12 passes setting Bohdan Mykhaylichenko away down the left and his cross was met by Oleksandr Zubkov at the back post to head past Andriy Lunin.

Lassina Traoré could’ve made it worse for Carlo Ancelotti when he rounded Lunin but he saw his chipped effort go over via the crossbar.

Real turned to Luka Modrić, Vinícius Junior and Eduardo Camavinga off the bench but struggled to break down the resilient Ukrainians.

But there was one man who did make the breakthrough as Rüdiger leapt to head Toni Kroos’ cross over the line and ended with a bloody face after a collision with goalkeeper Anatolli Trubin in the process.

Real remain top on 10 points and just one more win from their final two games to seal progress while Shakhtar are in third on five points.

Mbappé scores but PSG drop points

Scorers: Mbappé (PEN) 39′; Mário (PEN) 62′.

Kylian Mbappé shook off speculation around his future to become PSG’s record Champions League goalscorer but his side were still held by Benfica in Paris.

The 23-year-old gave PSG the lead five minutes before the break from the penalty spot after Juan Bernat had been fouled din the area.

But it was the Portuguese side who were the beneficiaries of a spot-kick in the second half, given following a VAR check after Marco Verratti had swiped Rafa Silva down.

João Mário dispatched from 12 yards meaning both sides go into the final two games on eight points.

Mbappé thought he had won the game in the dying minutes with an acrobatic volley but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Chelsea ease past 10-man Milan

Scorers: Jorginho (PEN) 21′, Aubameyang 34′.

Sent off: Tomori 18′.

Chelsea move to the top of their group after comfortably breezing past ten-man Milan.

Fikayo Tomori’s reunion with his former club lasted just 18 minutes as he saw red for hauling down Mason Mount inside the box.

Jorginho stepped up to send Ciprian Tătăruşanu the wrong way and give his side the lead.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang applied the finishing touch to a fine team move to put the game beyond all doubt   just after the half-hour mark, slotting in at the near post from close range for his third goal in as many appearances.

Graham Potter had made it four straight wins in all competitions and has guided his side to a one-point lead over Salzburg at the top with Milan drop to third with four points

Dortmund miss chance to seal qualification

Scorers: Bellingham 35′; Nianzou 18′.

Jude Bellingham became the first English teenager to score in four consecutive appearances but it wasn’t enough to earn Dortmund a win over Sevilla.

The visitors, under new manager Jorge Sampaoli took a surprise lead in the 18th minute when Tanguy Nianzou rose to head home Ivan Rakitić’s free-kick.

But Bellingham got on to the end of Thomas Meunier’s cross to side-foot into the bottom corner from 12 yards out to level terms.

The Bundesliga side will progress if they pick up two points from their last two group games.

Celtic out after defeat

Scorers: Werner 75′, Forsberg 84′.

Celtic’s Champions League journey is over after they were beaten at home by RB Leipzig.

The story could’ve been very different for Ange Postecoglou’s side as they created an abundance of chances again but failed to break through.

Matt O’Riley and Greg Taylor were denied by a combination of the crossbar and the post in the first half but it was Marco Rose’s men who made the breakthrough 15 minutes from time in the second period.

André Silva’s dipped pass was guided into the far corner by the head of Timo Werner before Emil Forsberg wrapped up the points late on with a fine finish.

Salzburg held in Zagreb

Scorers: Ljubičić 41′; Seiwald 12′.

Salzburg lost their grip on top spot in Group E after being pegged back by Dinamo Zagreb.

Nicolas Seiwald drilled into the bottom corner from just inside the area to break the deadlock but the hosts pulled level just before half-time after a corner was cleared into the path of Robert Ljubičić who unleashed a drive into the bottom corner via a deflection.

Maccabi Haifa stun Juventus

Scorers: Atzili 7′, 42′.

Maccabi Haifa shocked Juventus to pick up their first Champions League group stage victory at home since 2002 and leave the Old Lady’s knockout hopes hanging by a thread.

The hosts came out flying right from the start with Omer Atzili’s header squeezing past Wojciech Szczęsny for the opener within 10 minutes.

To make matters worse for the visitors, Angel Di Maria was later forced off in tears with an apparent hamstring injury.

After stripping Juventus off the ball in the middle of the pitch, it eventually found Atzili and his curler hit the top right corner for 2-0 just before half-time.

Coming out after the break Allegri made multiple substitutions including bringing on Moise Kean, Manuel Locatelli and Arkadiusz Milik resulting in the visitors turning things up a notch.

However, they could not put the ball in the back of the net and the first-half deficit proved to be too much.

Juventus’ hopes of a place in the knockout rounds are in jeopardy as they find themselves four points behind third place with PSG and Benfica to come in their final two games.

Copenhagen hold 10-man Manchester City

Sent off: Gómez 30′.

A subdued Manchester City were held by Copenhagen in a chaotic game which saw them end with ten men.

VAR took centre stage in a crazy first half hour in Denmark.

City had the ball in the back of the net first through Rodri but his strike was ruled out after a handball by Riyad Mahrez during the build-up.

Then minutes later, VAR awarded the visitors a penalty which Riyad Mahrez saw saved by goalkeeper Kamil Grabara.

And the referee then went to the monitor for the third time after Sergio Gómez denied a clear goalscoring opportunity and was subsequently sent off for it leaving the visitors a man down.

It remained 0-0 at the break however almost immediately after coming out into the second half both sides ramped up the pressure.

City, in particular, had Kevin De Bruyne attempting to take matters into his own hands but his effort was saved and João Cancelo saw a long-range effort parried away by Grabara.

Meanwhile, at the other end, a sliding Ísak Jóhannesson came inches away from connecting with the ball for the hosts.

During the final minutes, Pep Guardiola brought on the likes of Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva though nothing could inspire City and they were forced to split the points.

The result means Copenhagen are third in their group while the leaders City drop points for the first time.
