Marco Reus was the hero of the day as his late goal saw Borussia Dortmund beat Stuttgart 2-1 on Saturday.
Scorers: Malen 56′, Reus 85′; Massimo 62′
After Bayern Munich’s shock defeat to Augsburg on Friday night, Dortmund had the chance to go to within a point of the Bavarian side at the top of the Bundesliga.
But things didn’t come off for the home side in a disjointed first half as they struggled to break down Stuttgart.
Marco Reus went close with a free kick and Jude Bellingham always looked dangerous surging forward from midfield, but the deadlock remained unbroken.
Just after the break though, Dortmund did get their goal as Donny Malen’s deflected effort ended up in the back of the net.
Almost immediately however, the away side equalised as Robert Massimo waltzed in on goal and stroked the ball into the ball corner.
Marco Rose’s side went back to pushing for a winner and then found it with five minutes remaining as Marco Reus sent Signal Iduna Park into raptures.
