Xabi Alonso’s side have extended their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to four points with a late win away in Bavaria.

It looked as if the Werkself were going to drop points for only the fourth time this campaign as they struggled to break down the resolute hosts.

But in the fourth minute of added time, Exequiel Palacios struck home to give Leverkusen a stunning late win.

It means that they have now gone unbeaten in 26 games, the longest run in the history of German professional football.
