Everton’s run of eight matches without a win came to an end when they came from behind to beat Arsenal on Monday.

The Toffees had two goals disallowed for offside but still won dramatically in injury time thanks to a brilliant Demarai Gray strike.

Scorers: Richarlison 80′, Gray 90+2′; Ødegaard 45+2′

A small number of Everton supporters staged a walk out in protest at the club’s owners in the 27th minute, before the hosts lost Yerry Mina to injury, with Mason Holgate coming on.

Ben Godfrey was then fortunate to stay on the pitch when he caught Takehiro Tomiyasu in the face with his boot, but a VAR check deemed it to be an accidental collision.

Everton then thought they’d gone in front just before half-time, when Richarlison headed in from a free-kick, but replays showed that he was just offside.

And their misery was compounded in first half stoppage time, when Martin Ødegaard gave Arsenal the lead at the other end when he expertly guided Kieran Tierney’s cross past Jordan Pickford on the volley.

Into the second half and Richarlison again thought he’d scored when he finished well at the near post after being slipped in by Abdoulaye Doucouré, but the goal was again ruled out by VAR for an even tighter offside call.

But Richarlison finally did get his goal with 10 minutes remaining, when a brilliant Gray effort came back off the bar and the Brazilian was in the right place to head home the rebound.

Arsenal then had a brilliant chance to go back in front in the 84th minute, when Bukayo Saka’s cross found Eddie Nketiah at the back post, but he could only head down onto the post.

And they were made to rue that error in the 92nd minute when Gray netted a stunning winner for Everton, smashing it in off the post from distance.

Everton substitute Alex Iwobi had the chance to wrap it up against his old club, but Aaron Ramsdale came out to smother the chance, before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang fluffed the chance to equalised for Arsenal with the last kick off the game.
