Last night theRangers made it to the quarter finals of the Europa League after losing 2-0 to Fenerbahce before winning a penalty shoot out win over Fenerbahce at Ibrox…

Four straight defeats at Ibrox for theRangers

The defeat was their fourth consecutive loss at Ibrox with Philippe Clement taking charge for the defeats to Queen’s Park and St Mirren and Barry Ferguson losing to both Motherwell and Fenerbahce.

But only after throwing away their two goal lead from the first leg, and if Fenerbahce had any decent quality in their ranks, or indeed if the referee done his job right, then the home side would have been out on their backsides and on the end of an embarrassing scoreline.

I don’t usually make a habit of watching the Ibrox side, but as they are our next opponents I tuned in to see what sort of ‘challenge’ awaits us on Sunday.

Europa League clash lacked any real quality

What I watched was very far from impressive, from both sides in a game devoid of any true quality and a staggering difference in the standard between the games I watched in the previous last two nights in the UEFA Champions League. The gulf in class between the two competitions is absolutely staggering and seems to be getting bigger all the time.

If I was a scout reporting back to Celtic I would be submitting a welcoming report on our behalf, as theRangers despite being two goals to the good from the first leg and backed by the majority of the crowd were to put it mildly, completely woeful. Despite the ‘brave’ and ‘determined’ descriptions from the SMSM, they were cut open time and time again by a bang average Turkish outfit.

The only danger was their loan player Vaclav Cerny

The only danger was their loan player Vaclav Cerny. Their only tactic was to lump the ball to the Czech winger and hope for the best, the rest of them aren’t up to much at all.

If a side as average as Fenerbahce can cut them open with ease then we should be doing much the same, and as we boast much better players we shouldn’t be thinking of anything less than a comfortable win and another Beautiful Sunday this weekend.

Every game is different I suppose, but we are at home with a chance to all but win the title, against a very poor and leg weary opponent. Anything less than a victory will be unacceptable and that’s the message that Brendan Rodgers will be drilling into his players as he targets getting the title won as quickly as possible.

Three wins against theRangers, Hearts and St Johnstone guarantees that Celtic are once again Champions. Lets’ do it Bhoys!
