A last-minute call will be taken on the availability of Gerard Moreno, as Villarreal aim to end a four-game losing streak at home to Getafe on Monday night.
Moreno has missed Villarreal’s last two games due to an injury on his right calf, and is yet to arrive at full fitness.
Manager Quique Setién affirmed that the forward had completed training on Sunday, and a last minute call would be taken on his availability for the game. Setién showed optimism about the fixtures ahead, stating that the return of not only Moreno but also Giovani Lo Celso and Alfonso Pedraza, would be a massive boost to the team in the next couple of weeks.
Setién assured the press that he had not received a vote of no-confidence from the board despite the bad streak of results. As transcribed by Super Deporte, Setién said:
“We win and we lose together. Yes, the coach is pointed out the most in such situations, but I haven’t received a negative signal. The club is aware of what’s happening, and we are all concerned about the defeats, but serious analysis has already taken place.”
Setién is confident his boys can turn things around: “The team is still strong. I think we are going to have a very good game and get out of this rough phase.”
Villarreal will go level on points with sixth-placed Rayo Vallecano with a win tonight.
