La Liga outfit Las Palmas have on Tuesday provided an insight into the nature of the injury suffered by defender Julián Araujo.

Right-back Araujo, for his part, departed Gran Canaria early last week, to link up with his fellow countrymen with the Mexican national team.

In turn, the 22-year-old was afforded a starting berth on Friday night, in El Tri’s CONCACAF Nations League semi-final meeting with Panama.

En route to an eventual 3-0 triumph for his side, however, Araujo was forced into a premature departure from proceedings, early in the 2nd-half.

Whilst limping from the field of play at AT&T Stadium, the stopper was spotted clutching his hamstring, an altogether concerning development for the coaching staff at the aforementioned Las Palmas.

Araujo, for his part, has played a starring role for Los Amarillos across the season to date, on his way to 22 La Liga appearances.

As confirmed in a statement on Tuesday evening, though, he is indeed set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.

As much comes with the Mexican having picked up an injury to the ‘femoral biceps’ of his right leg:

‘Our player Julián Araujo suffers a muscle injury to his right femoral biceps. The estimated time of sick leave will be according to evolution.’

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, Araujo is set to miss ‘the next few matches’ for Las Palmas, albeit with the full-back having been ineligible to feature against Barcelona this coming weekend, anyway, owing to the fact that he is currently out on loan from the Blaugrana.
