Las Palmas president Miguel Angel Ramirez has said that Julian Araujo, who is currently on loan from Barcelona, has adapted really well to the new environment, and if he continues to perform at this level, he will return to Barça with a strong statement.

Araujo, who signed for Barcelona in February 2023, did not make an appearance for the team in the second half of the previous season. Furthermore, with Joao Cancelo arriving in the summer, he was sent on loan to Las Palmas to gain regular first-team minutes.

While his initial days with his new team were a bit difficult, he has become a regular fixture, appearing as a right-back for Los Amarillos.

“Julian Araujo? Our sports administration bet a lot on him because they were convinced that he would perform as he did,” Ramirez told Culemania.

“He has adapted perfectly and produced performances very important to us. We are not afraid that his good performance will facilitate his return to Barcelona,” he added.

“We have a very similar playing philosophy to that of Barcelona and Pimienta (coach) was chosen because he has the character we need. Coming from the Barcelona academy means you are better trained and it’s a big step for us,” he pointed out.

Araujo’s loan is going pretty well

Araujo, who has made seven La Liga starts this season, may have the opportunity to bolster Barcelona’s right wing as a substitute for Joao Cancelo if an agreement is reached with Manchester City.

The potential move is prompted by the impending end of Sergi Roberto’s contract in June, raising the possibility of the veteran defender leaving the team.

Meanwhile, the Mexican’s playing time has been on the rise this season, accumulating 726 minutes in La Liga and 86 in the domestic cup competition. He has actively contributed to 13 out of the 15 matches played.

Lastly, it is to be noted that Bojan Krkic, the player coordinator responsible for monitoring Barcelona’s loaned players, recently held discussions with Araujo, a routine he follows with other loanees.

If the youngster continues at the same level, he might have a place in Xavi’s plans at Barcelona next season.
