Manchester City will lock horns with Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad on Thursday night, hoping to pick up all three points on their home turf. The visitors will be coming into the match on the back of a 2-0 loss to Arsenal, whereas Pep Guardiola’s men recorded an unfortunate 2-1 loss to arch-rivals Manchester United.
Pep Guardiola will probably opt for the 4-3-3 formation with a few tweaks from the last game. Jack Grealish might get the nod over Phil Foden, whereas Ilkay Gundogan seems likely to make his way back into the starting eleven.
Ederson Moraes will return to operate between the sticks for the upcoming clash. The Brazilian shot-stopper would hope to put up a strong performance and secure a clean sheet on Thursday.
Aymeric Laporte will replace Nathan Ake to form the centre-half partnership with Manuel Akanji at the heart of City’s backline.
Rico Lewis should be a starter at the left-back position, whereas Kyle Walker will fill in on the other flank as the right-back. The full-backs will be expected to stay compact and keep their shape defensively.

Rodri might start in the holding midfield position and could be assigned with more of a defensive role to shield the home side’s back four.
Ilkay Gundogan will slot into the central midfield role, whereas Kevin De Bruyne is expected to start in the attacking midfield position. The duo would be determined to set up some clear-cut goal-scoring chances for the frontmen.
Kalvin Phillips will have to settle for a place on the bench, but he could come on to make a cameo appearance in the second half.
Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva will take up the wide positions, playing on the left and right-wing, respectively.
Erling Haaland will lead the line for Manchester City in midweek. The Norwegian international will be hoping to get his name on the scoresheet when he faces off against the Spurs defence that has conceded six goals in their last five matches across all competitions.
Julian Alvarez will have to settle for a place on the bench, but he could be brought on in the second forty-five minutes of the match.
