Barcelona legend Samuel Eto’o recently talked to Manu Carreno on El Larguero (via MD) where he spoke about a plethora of topics. One amongst them was Joan Laporta, Ronald Koeman, and the current transition of Barcelona.

The Cameroonian said that he has full trust in Laporta’s plan and backed the president to take the club in the right direction.

“I think Joan has a plan. He does not give up because he’s very smart. I have the privilege of having him as a friend and as a brother,” he said.

Reports of rifts between Laporta and Koeman have headlined the Catalan press for the past week. However, the former Barcelona forward said that he believes Laporta truly backs the manager.

“Knowing Joan, he does not say things if he does not think about them [referring to Laporta saying he backs Koeman]. He is in love with Barça and he’s a fan before he became president.”

He also spoke on Lionel Messi’s departure and the difficult phase the club was going through by saying,

“We were used to seeing our Barça with Lionel Messi. Now we are adapting to a new stage, and we have to give the team time. But I hope that in the end, they will give us joy and trophies.”

He finally spoke on his reaction to Messi joining PSG.

“The truth is that I was sorry as a culé, but it also gave me joy as a PSG fan, because PSG is one of my heart teams. But because of history, because of what Lionel represents, what we would have wanted is for him to end his career at Barcelona with all the honors he deserves,” he said.
