Lanus wish Celtic and Bernabei well as they post Maradona throwback on social media | OneFootball

Alexandro Bernabei’s former club in Argentina, Lanus have today sent well-wishes on behalf of the club to Celtic FC as well as our new number 25. Lanus were quick to announce the deal at around 3am this morning, leaving the Bhoys playing catch-up a bit in relation to the media and PR side of the move today.

Bernabei will be a welcome addition to the club and will no doubt have ambitions of first supplanting permanent resident – and Scotland international – Greg Taylor at full-back. The move was eventually relayed publicly after Alexandro had been snapped in Glasgow last Friday, which you can read all about here.

The move did not happen as swiftly as we had all hoped, as most thought it would be a double announcement of Bernabei and Jota. Yet, the weekend past without a murmur or trace of any movement on the Celtic media side of things. Alas, the wait went on for another few days, but now we have our top target for left-back.

Lanus posted their delight at their former player and Argentina U-23 cap sealing his dream move to the European continent. They even produced a classy throwback of when Alexandro met Argentine idol, Diego Maradona in a snap on Twitter. Both men were pictured in a warm embrace, smiling as they both participated in the game that they love.

Beneath the photo, the Lanus media team captioned:

“The 25 blessed by the 10. Good luck to you and Berna in the coming season, Celtic!”

If he turns out anything like the majesty of Maradona we will be doing just fine!
