Frank Lampard admits he is wary of the threat posed by Harry Kane this weekend but insists his Chelsea side are not an ‘overly attacking team’.

Chelsea will host Premier League leaders Tottenham this weekend in what promises to be a fascinating clash between the two rivals, the north London side travelling to Stamford Bridge in confident mood and top of the division.

Spurs‘ strong start to the season has been largely fired by the impressive combination of Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane, the latter having been in excellent form this season with an astonishing eight goals and nine assists in just nine league fixtures.

Lampard’s side have enjoyed a strong run of form of their own and have won their past six fixtures in all competitions following the midweek win at Rennes, with the west Londoner’s summer signings beginning to click into gear.

Lampard admits recent performances presents him with a selection dilemma ahead of a huge clash against Spurs on Sunday, though says he is confident the new-found ‘balance’ of his side will be able to cope with the attacking threat of the visitors.

“It’s difficult [to pick a team] but I’m happy with the level of competition at the moment,” he said at his pre-match press conference. “If it’s a problem for me to pick the team then we’ll turn that into a positive to try to make our squad one of our strengths.

“One of the best things I’ve seen from us recently is the balance in our team. I’d like to think we’re not an overly attacking team that will leave ourselves vulnerable but we’ll have to be aware, particularly of players like Harry Kane.”
