Frank Lampard is confident that Everton’s star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin will remain focused on fighting for Premier League survival, amid a number of reports linking him to a new club this summer.

The Toffees currently sit 16th with two matches left in their battle to avoid relegation, and only two points separate them from Burnley and Leeds United.

But, with Calvert-Lewin now returning from a quad injury sustained in April – and being linked with the likes of Arsenal and Newcastle in the summer window – Lampard is hopeful that the 25-year-old will provide the final push needed to remain in the English top flight.

“I’m not silly, this is football and he’s a player that would be wanted by clubs because of the level of player he is,” Lampard said of his star man.

“There are not many strikers out there. They cost a lot of money.

“I am not worried about him at all, and I wouldn’t be worried about playing him in these games. He is absolutely focused on the job.

“He’s been a big player for Everton and Everton have been a big club for him in his career.”

Lampard added: “He has three years left on his contract, and I want to take this club forward.

“Players like Dominic help that. I know he hasn’t been playing at the minute because he’s been getting fit but now he’s fit so hopefully he’ll contribute in these last few games, for starters.”

Calvert-Lewin has only featured in 12 matches this season for Everton, scoring three goals.

Everton’s fate is in their own hands as they take on Brentford and Crystal Palace to round out their 2021-22 Premier League campaign.
