Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has heaped praise on 18-year-old attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi after the youngster shone in the Blues 1-0 win over Newcastle yesterday.
Hudson-Odoi is one of the most highly-rated young players in English football and Chelsea had to resist the advances of German giants Bayern Munich last season, despite the London born winger having only made a handful of first-team appearances.
However, Hudson-Odoi recently signed a new five-year deal at Stamford Bridge and he has shown no effects from the serious ankle injury he sustained last April, providing three assists in three Premier League appearances so far this term.
He was electric at times yesterday against the Geordies and speaking after the game Lampard spoke glowingly about the youngsters contribution.
‘Callum was really good, he had product on the wing, taking people on,’ Lampard told chelseafc.com.
‘He looked sharp, getting at people and was a big threat, and I am really pleased with that.
‘The end product will come even more with Callum. He was giving Newcastle a big problem and he needs to carry on doing that.’
