Frank Lampard could make a shock managerial return as he is reportedly on the shortlist to become the new head coach of the Canada national team.

The North American country will co-host the 2026 World Cup alongside the United States and Mexico.

They have been without a permanent manager since John Herdman joined Toronto FC last summer.

Former assistant coach Mauro Biello is currently in charge on an interim basis but they want to appoint a permanent manager soon.

According to the Telegraph, Canada football chiefs are interested in holding talks with the former Chelsea and Everton boss.

However, it is unclear whether Lampard would be keen on moving abroad.

The 45-year-old has been out of a job since leaving Chelsea last summer. He took charge of the Blues on an interim basis in 2023 following Graham Potter’s dismissal but failed to revive the club’s fortunes.

Chelsea achieved Champions League qualification and reached the FA Cup final during his first managerial stint.

Lampard also guided Everton to Premier League safety but was dismissed in January 2023 after a poor season.
