En route to an eventual 1-0 downing of Denmark in the Nations League, the 17-year-old featured from the off, seeing out all but the final minutes of the clash in Murcia.

In the days following the matchup, the majority of the chatter surrounding Lamine’s contributions have centered on the harsh nature of his treatment by way of Denmark’s defenders, with the youngster having been forced to depart the Spanish camp prematurely on Sunday as a result.

And, as alluded to above, in the process, the hugely impressive nature of Lamine’s display, on the defensive side of the ball, was overlooked.

This comes with the Barcelona talent having managed to equal a La Roja benchmark, for possession won.

As revealed by statisticians Opta:

‘No Spanish player has won more possession in the final third in an international game in the last decade than Lamine Yamal vs Denmark in the UEFA Nations League (6).’
