Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has on Saturday evening secured for himself a head-turning piece of individual history.
As much comes owing to the Spanish international’s exploits in Barcelona’s La Liga meeting with Real Valladolid.
Hansi Flick’s troops are currently locked in action with Valladolid in Catalunya’s capital, with sights set on a 4th successive victory to open the campaign.
And, safe to say, as things stand at Montjuïc, this is precisely what the Blaugrana are headed towards.
Early in the 2nd-half, Barca find themselves in possession of a commanding 3-0 advantage on the scoreline.
This comes after Raphinha’s opener on the 20-minute mark was added to by Robert Lewandowski just minutes later, before Jules Koundé put the outcome of the clash as good as to bed with the hosts’ 3rd on the stroke of the interval.
And yet, as alluded to above, it was another member of Flick’s Barca ranks who etched his name into the history books during the first-half against Valladolid.
As revealed by statisticians Opta, this comes with Lamine Yamal, owing to his latest assist, having broken a long-standing record, set by ex-Blaugrana talent Bojan Krkić:
‘Lamine Yamal has been involved in 14 goals in 42 appearances in LaLiga, the most by a player before turning 18 in the competition in the 21st century, surpassing Bojan Krkić.’
