Lamine Yamal stole the show again for FC Barcelona as he delivered another 10/10 performance to help his team thrash Girona 4-1 on Sunday.

The 17-year-old prodigy led the way for the Blaugrana with a stunning first-half brace that set the tone for the rest of the game.

Dani Olmo and Pedri added two more goals after half-time to ensure that Cristhian Stuani’s late goal for Girona was only a mere consolation.

Speaking to the media after the game, Yamal expressed his delight at picking up the victory, as he said:

“We want to win as many games as possible because if you want to win the league, that’s what you have to do. I’m very happy with the win.”

Continuing, he added: “It’s difficult to get back into the league after the first international break, but we started well and very direct. Now we are already thinking about the game against Monaco.”

Discussing his own performance on the evening at Montilivi, Yamal remarked: “The brace? In the end, to help the team it is important to score and do everything possible to contribute to the victory.”

On the upcoming UEFA Champions League game against Monaco, Yamal said: “The Champions League is special for us, we’re really looking forward to this game.”

The clash against Monaco could be the one where a certain Ansu Fati makes his return for FC Barcelona. The 21-year-old has recovered from his injury and is poised to play his first game for the Catalans after a year, having spent the last season away on loan.

And, Yamal backed Fati to become an important player for the team, saying: “He will be a very important player for us, for sure, he is a special player that all the Culés want to see and I hope he can play.”

Meanwhile, the youngster also gave his two cents about Girona’s denied penalty claim last evening for a potential handball by Inigo Martinez, saying:

“I don’t think it was a penalty because it’s a rebound. And when there is a rebound, there is no handball.”
