Real Betis captain Joaquín has decided to hang up his boots after confirming his retirement on Wednesday.

The 41-year-old winger’s contract ends on June 30th, and he has opted not to renew after 23 years as a professional footballer.

A LaLiga legend, the Spain international made 839 club appearances, registering 112 goals and 102 assists while representing Betis, Valencia, Malaga and also Fiorentina in Serie A.

He debuted in 2000 and won two Copa del Rey titles with Betis and another with Valencia. Additionally, he featured in two World Cups and one European Championship with Spain.
