It may feel like the transfer window just ended but with the season well and truly underway, focus is already starting to shift towards the next window, with the January trading season approaching ever closer.

Manchester United are rarely active in the January transfer window but have made notable signings over the last couple of seasons. Amad joined last year, Bruno Fernandes signed in 2020 whilst Alexis Sanchez joined the club two years before that.

That doesn’t stop the rumours, however. Sevilla star Jules Kounde is the latest to be linked with a move to Manchester United, with the latest reports claiming the player has asked his agent to negotiate with the Old Trafford club. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are also said to be ‘going crazy’ to sign Kounde.

That’s according to Spanish publication El Nacional, via Sport Witness, who say that despite interest from Real Madrid, the young Frenchman does not trust Los Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Chelsea made an effort to sign Kounde over the summer but had their attempts rebuffed by the La Liga giants, which is described as an indicator that Kounde’s departure may be inevitable in the future.

Manchester United are said to be preparing a concerted effort to sign Kounde, with the club believing a centre-back pairing of Raphael Varane and Kounde would be ‘unbeatable’.

In reality, Varane was signed to accommodate Manchester United captain Harry Maguire and the pair is unlikely to be broken up by a new recruit next summer.

The Reds are expected to focus next summer’s transfer window on bolstering their midfield, with some reports claiming West Ham’s Declan Rice has already been identified as the club’s priority target.
