Javier Tebas, president of La Liga, has this week provided an altogether encouraging update on the financial status of Spanish champions Barcelona.
This comes amid fresh chatter surrounding the player registration situation in Catalunya’s capital with a view to next season.
Barcelona have of course added to their first-team ranks by way of one high-profile signing across the summer to date (Roony Bardghji’s immediate future at senior level remains uncertain).
After making the call to activate the shot-stopper’s release clause, the Blaugrana managed to land Joan García from city rivals Espanyol last month.
The 24-year-old has since gone on to link up with Hansi Flick’s squad, impressing onlookers with his stellar reflexes at The Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper in training this week.
And yet, as of yet, Joan has not been registered to take to the pitch in domestic competition with Barca.
Speaking during an appearance in front of the media this week, the aforementioned Javier Tebas was therefore asked whether the registration situation could again prove a problematic one for the Catalans this summer.
La Liga’s president, in quotes relaid by Mundo Deportivo, however, appeared confident in explaining:
“That depends on Barcelona. I haven’t been in touch for a few days, and that’s a matter for the league’s financial control team, and they’ll know. We have a website where registrations are published; if no one is registering, it’s because they may have the players or the full details haven’t been provided at the moment. I’m not too worried about Barcelona this season, to be honest.”
