The Girona manager added that he hopes his midfielder will be appreciated not just by the Girona fans but also by the Barcelona supporters, especially next Sunday when his men make a trip to Catalonia to take on the Blaugrana.

“I remember a lot of when he played in Rayo’s youth teams and in the games against Real Madrid there were more people celebrating their goals than ours, and I hope that happens in Girona with Barça,” he explained.

Furthermore, he also asked his players to be 100% committed to the project as he believes his team has started something very special. “We have started a project to make all of this possible.”

Girona currently sit second in the league standing, although level on points with leaders Real Madrid owing to an inferior goal difference.

As of today, Michel’s men lead Barcelona with four points, making Sunday’s game an important outing for both teams. Should Barcelona register a win, they would be the closest to title challengers Real Madrid.
