In a recent episode of The Transfer window podcast, renowned journalist Duncan Castles revealed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on offloading striker Anthony Martial in the ongoing transfer window as he is tired of the Frenchman’s ‘terrible attitude’ and ‘poor form’.

He further stated La Liga giants Real Madrid have been offered a cut-price deal for the player.

“Anthony Martial is to be sacrificed should they get this new forward in.” – Castles said.

“Solskjaer is tired of his attitude and hasn’t been impressed with his goal production and general knitting into the team this season.”

It’s not the first time that the France international’s attitude has been brought into question.

In an interview with FootballFanCast (translated by Football 365) in March, ex-Newcastle ace Rob Lee said that Manchester United should let Anthony Martial leave in the summer.

“He’s such a talented lad, he’s quick, and he can finish well, but some days, he just doesn’t seem interested.” Lee stated.

“His attitude seems terrible. So yeah, if somebody would give me £50million for him, I’d snap their hand off.”

“I look at him some games and think he’s unstoppable, but then I look at him other games, and I think he should be playing Sunday League football.”

Anthony Martial’s Poor Form At Old Trafford

With just 7 goals in thirty-six appearances across all competitions, Martial turned out to be Manchester United’s flop of the 2020/21 season. Besides, the 25-year-old picked up an unfortunate injury at the end of the season that ruled him out of Euro 2020.

After a spectacular finish to the 2019/20 season, the United fans certainly expected him to carry on his form into the subsequent season; however, it’d be an understatement to say that he failed to live up to the expectations.

Should Solksjaer Let Him Go?

Edinson Cavani enjoyed a brilliant first season at Manchester as he scored 17 goals and netted 5 assists across all competitions to help his side; however, the recent one-year contract extension has further left Martial’s future in doubt.

On the other hand, 19-year-old Mason Greenwood ended the season on a strong note with 8 goals in his last 14 games.

It’s quite obvious that Anthony Martial will have to face some tough competition if he wishes to feature regularly in United’s starting eleven next season. Moreover, the signing of Jadon Sancho in the ongoing transfer window might further put him down the pecking order.

Considering all the options, it’s better if the United board puts a suitable price tag on him. A summer sale would certainly benefit all the parties involved.
