It is no secret that Barcelona have had their eye on Las Palmas wonderkid Alberto Moleiro for some time now.
Having signed Pedri from the Canary Islanders a few years ago, the Blaugrana tried to land the 20-year-old Moleiro in 2022, but the move could not go through due to Financial Fair Play issues.
While Barcelona might have been unable to sign Moleiro last year, they continue to retain an interest in the 20-year-old attacking midfielder.
In fact, Las Palmas president Miguel Angel Ramirez has confirmed as much in a recent interview with Culemania, stating that Barça are still tracking the young Spaniard.
“Barça know the player perfectly well and obviously we have a good relationship with the club,” Ramirez stated during the interview.
At the same time, though, the Las Palmas president warned Barcelona that there are more admirers for Moleiro, with several clubs from within Spain and outside keeping an eye on the young midfielder.
“We will always be willing to look for solutions, but the boy’s development is quite positive and he is a player who is being watched by big teams in Spain and Europe. We’ll see…,” he added.
Moleiro is regarded as one of the most exciting young talents coming through in La Liga. The 20-year-old starred for Las Palmas last season, helping them win promotion to the first division.
Having missed the start of the current campaign due to injury, the youngster is impressing since his return, racking up two goals and assists apiece from eight games in all competitions.
It remains to be seen if Barcelona decide to act on their interest in the versatile attacking midfielder.
