Sevilla are interested in Liverpool midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri, according to Football Insider.

Shaqiri, who signed for Liverpool from Stoke City for a transfer fee of £13 million back in the summer of 2018, will reportedly depart Anfield come the summer.

The Swiss international has had a tough 2019-20 campaign. Shaqiri has only started two Premier League fixtures this season, and a lot of that is down to the fact that he has been injured. What also hasn’t helped is that he is a squad player at best.

As a result, Shaqiri is set to depart Liverpool come the end of the season, and it is being reported that Sevilla are interested in his services.

Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards is believed to be holding out for a £28 million transfer fee for Shaqiri.

It will be a shame to see Shaqiri go, however, a move away is probably best for him. He needs more minutes on the pitch to get any continuity in his body.

The Swiss international still leaves the club having been apart of a squad that has won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

He will more than likely be able to add the Premier League title to the aforementioned list of achievements when the coronavirus clears.

It is fair to say that Liverpool got a solid return from Shaqiri when one considers the small price the club paid to get him.
