At just 22, Souleymane Faye has decided to return to Granada CF, the club where he first set foot in European football on loan. Back then, he played for the B team, but this time the Senegalese winger is stepping up to the professional squad for a new adventure in La Liga 2, Spain's second division.

Unveiled to the fans by his new club, Faye explained his decision to leave Betis Deportivo and answer the call from the Andalusian side: "I really wanted to come to Granada last year. We talked about it, but there were a few details to sort out. This year, as soon as they showed interest, I didn't hesitate."

The U20 African champion with Senegal made no secret of his determination to succeed with a club aiming for a return to the top flight this season. "I feel good and very proud. There's been a lot of hard work behind this. I learned a lot at Betis, I grew as a person and as a player. When I first came here, I was very young, it was my first year in Spain. As you can see, I've picked up the language well, and as a player, I think I've made real progress too."

The Dakar native knows this second spell at the club will be very different from his first: "In this second stint, I want to prove myself and achieve great things with Granada. Now, we're all being asked to get into the box, because if we don't, we won't score goals. Scoring is crucial, because goals are what help you win matches."

Faye won't be alone in Andalusia, as he'll be joined by fellow Senegalese Baila Diallo, who also signed with Granada CF this summer: "We get along really well because he's Senegalese like me. It's his first year in Spain and I'm helping him learn the language, which is very important," he concluded.

Granada CF will play their first official match of the season against Deportivo La Coruña this Saturday, kicking off at 19:30 GMT as part of the opening round of La Liga 2.
