The Los Angeles Galaxy faced Tijuana for the first time was in 2011. That was the same year that the Galaxy won their third MLS Cup Championship. These two teams have gone head-to-head six times so far.

This Thursday, it will be their seventh meeting. The Los Angeles Galaxy will host Tijuana at home in the first game of Group Play for the 2025 Leagues Cup.

Has the LA Galaxy faced Tijuana on this stage before?

Yes. Six years ago, these two teams took the field in the 2019 Leagues Cup.

Emmanuel Boateng scored the game's first goal, putting the Los Angeles Galaxy up 1-0. Unfortunately, Ariel Nahuelpán and Washington Camacho both scored before halftime.

The LA Galaxy began the second half with a one goal deficit. It took them less than five minutes to tie it up, 2-2. Dave Romney connected on a score in the 54th minute.

This did get chippy before the end of the game, however. Julian Araujo of the LA Galaxy received his secodn yellow card of the second half. He was ejected from the match during stoppage time.

Despite the one-man advantage in the game's final minutes, Tijuana could not capitalize. Both teams settled for the draw. In fact, there are three other ties between the LA Galaxy and Club Tijuana in their history. The only time either club has won against the other is during Concacaf Champions play.

If the Los Angeles Galaxy look to advance in this year's Leagues Cup, they will need strong wins over Tijuana, Cruz Azul and Santos in the next few days. The Galaxy was eliminated last year in Group Play after losing 3-1 to the Seattle Sounders.
